Injury Rehabilitation
If you've ever sustained an injury than you know
how long and hard of a process it is to get your body
back to it's optimal level of health. The reason for
this is because injuries cause weakness and
tightness in different muscles, joints, and
ligaments which over time can cause impingements
on various nerves leading to further injuries. It's a
brutal chain of events, but with the proper
conditioning (mainly by use of bands, light
dumbbells, and different variations of foam objects) and me as your personal trainer in San Diego,
the chain will be broken and the body can be
restored to it's highest levels.
Weight Loss
With over 50% of Americans being overweight, it
becomes very important that the proper exercise
routine and diet be implemented into all of our daily
lives. By balancing a higher paced work-out with a
diet that puts you in a caloric deficient (burning more
calories than you consume), weight loss becomes a
walk in the park. Cardiovascular activity alone won't
make the weight drop off, but once there is a
combination of structured weight training, a proper
diet, and the appropriate level cardiovascular activity,
the results will inevitable.
Core Strengthening
One of the most neglected areas of our bodies is the
core. When I mention the core, the center
of our bodies, primarily our abdominals (stomach
muscles). When these muscles become weak and
underdeveloped many different issues can arise with the
most common being lower back injuries. You might have
heard of the term "functional fitness", essentially this
means doing exercises that will help our daily activities,
and the core is the biggest factor of it all.
Elderly Training
As we become older in age our bodies begin
to change and the way that we need to train them
becomes entirely different. Slower movements
with an emphasis on proprioception (balance)
takes precedence as well as strengthening the
muscles that surround the hips.
Muscle Gain and Toning
In the world of fitness people are always wanting
to either tone (slim down and define) or build their
muscles. In each of these cases certain things must
be manipulated, such as sets, repetitions, rest
periods, and overall volume of the work-out. With
proper guidance it's all possible.
Pregnancy Training
At this critical time in a women's life it is very important
that the correct exercises are implemented into a work-out
routine. There are many people out there who are blind to
the fact that things must change not only in our physical
activity, but in our diets as well. Iron and calcium become
very important and it is essential that no exercise be done
in the supine position (lying on your back). Whether it be
during the pregnancy or after the pregnancy, this is a
critical time to do everything correctly.
Postural Corrections
We see it everyday, people walk around in
many different ways. Some arch their backs, some
roll their shoulders forward, but whatever
imbalance that you have in you posture, it can be
corrected by exercise. Strengthening certain
muscles while losing others will help pull your body
back into its natural anatomical position.
Stress Management
Stress, we experience it everyday in some form
or another and it can cause many negative things to
happen to our bodies. Blood pressure becomes
elevated, muscles tighten, heart rate quickens, and
much more. Studies have shown that through
exercise stress can be greatly reduced which in turn
will make us all happier with our lives.
Integrated Flexibility
There are not many people out there who are
where they should be flexibility wise and this can
turn into a major issue. By incorporating exercises
into a work-out program that require flexibility to be
used, over time our muscles will start to loosen up.
On top of flexibility exercises, there are certain types
of stretches and forms of release that will speed up
the process and help us prevent injury.
Nutritional Guidance
As mentioned in the nutrition section of this website
you can see that there are a lot of different aspects to
nutrition that must be manipulated differently for each
individual person. In order to get the results you want
nutrition must play a very important role. Calories
must be controlled based upon your goals and the
proper foods must be consumed. A good diet makes
up for over 50% of the results!
